Breene Harimoto died on this day in 2020. He represented Oahu as a Democrat in the Senate from 2015 into 2020, and he also served as Chairman of the State Board of Education. Gov. David Ige appointed Bennette Misalucha to fill the seat vacated by the death of Sen. Harimoto.
Lowell Smith Dillingham was born on this day in 1911. He was appointed to the House by Gov. George Ariyoshi on July 7, 1984 to fill the House seat (Oahu 13th) vacated by Fred W. Rohlfing, Jr. Mr. Dillingham served just 123 days until the election on November 6, 1984.
William “Doc” Hill was born on this day in 1890. He represented Hilo in the House from 1929-1930 and then in the Senate from 1933-1970 and served as President from 1959-1962. He resigned from the Senate in 1970 and died on June 6 having spent nearly 40 years in government.
Joel Charles Cohen was born on this day in 1862. He represented Oahu as a Republican in the House 1909- 1910 before acquiring Honolulu Amusement Co. in 1914. He incorporated his company as Consolidated Amusement Co. Today Consolidated Theatres operates 6 locations, all on Oahu

Yasutaka Fukushima was born in Honolulu on this day in 1916. From 1951 through 1959 he served as a Republican in the House and then, from 1959 through 1966, he served in the new state Senate. Fukushima is one of the men in this photo identified by the Hawaii State Archives:
William F. Mossman, Jr. died on this day in 1929. He served two brief terms in the Territorial House as a Democrat, the first just during 1901 and then again from 1917 through 1918, both times representing the Oahu 5th District.
