🗣️At the High-Level Conference celebrating 10 years of the #EU4AnimalHealth Law, @M_Higuera, Chairman of the @COPACOGECA's Working Party on Animal Health & Welfare, shared farmers' perspective on its implementation.

🇪🇺 farms are increasingly exposed to transboundary animal diseases due to climate change, wildlife interactions and animal movements. While the Animal Health Law remains a strong and robust framework, consistent implementation across Member States can be improved through greater flexibility, ensuring the rules remain fit for future challenges.

💪A strong Animal Health Law requires strong financial support for disease prevention, surveillance, biosecurity, outbreak response, eradication, as well as research and innovation.

🌱 Today's ENVI vote marks a significant milestone for European agriculture !
By endorsing the @EUCouncil's first-reading position, the European Parliament moves closer to delivering an 🇪🇺 framework on NGTs that will strengthen food security, support sustainability, ensure fair competition and unlock innovation in Europe for farmers.

🔴For the 3⃣rd year in a row, European cereal producers are in the red economically, losing up to €500 per hectare. This situation is becoming increasingly structural and should raise concern well beyond the farming sector. What is the main driver? Fertilisers and their prices.

While crop prices remain relatively stable, fertilisers prices have seen a dramatic increase in the EU, creating a scissor effect ✂️
To make the situation worse, starting in 2026, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), enforced by the @EU_Commission impose additional tariffs on imported goods with higher CO₂ emissions, including fertilisers.

📌On Monday 13th, the European Commission will organise a high-level meeting in Brussels on this issue. Ahead of that event, we wanted to set the record straight with a video showing how cereals and arable farmers are really impacted on the ground.

One thing is certain: if we don’t act now, the future of EU cereals, all other arable crops, and the 🇪🇺 farmers who grow them is at risk. And that is a future none of us can afford!

We support our colleagues in Strasbourg. For us the biggest problem is the unbalanced deal for agriculture with double standards in combination with less money for and a weaker CAP and no real simplification in times of uncertainty.

Historic moment for LRF first time participation in @COPACOGECA WP wine chaired by Luca Rigotti with Swedish wine producers. Wine production in Sweden is still in a start up phase using modern methods. Climate change pose both opportunities but also challenges.

Unacceptable; an increase of the overall budget but a clear cut to the CAP, undermining a cornerstone of the internal market our food security and peace! As well as mixing it up with cohesion funds and leave it in the hands of national priorities. Where is the EU??

High level meeting today with @CHansenEU @JessikaRoswall and @peterkullgren on a typical Swedish dairy farm with crops and forestry. MFF, CAP, generational renewal, bioeconomy were some issues raised. Ending with discussions with LRF General Assembly. Cooperation at its best!
