The Law Society of Kenya Council, led by the President, Mr. @ckanjama , SC, paid a courtesy call on the @IEBCKenya , whose delegation was led by the Chairperson, Mr. Erastus Edung Ethekon.

The engagement focused on practical areas of collaboration ahead of the 2027 General Election, including preparedness, electoral dispute resolution, election observation, legal reform, and the structured participation of advocates in strengthening Kenya’s electoral processes.

@IEBCKenya acknowledged @LawSocietyofKe as a key legal and governance stakeholder and invited deeper collaboration in voter and stakeholder education, preventive compliance, and the training of political parties, candidates, agents and advocates on electoral law and dispute-resolution processes.

For LSK members, the Council specifically pushed for a more visible and meaningful role for advocates in the electoral cycle, beyond post-election litigation.

The discussions opened space for advocates to be trained and accredited as election observers, to support political parties and candidates in compliance before disputes arise, to participate in electoral dispute resolution, and to contribute to priority legal reforms touching on results transmission, campaign financing, early campaigns, the Electoral Code of Conduct, academic qualifications, Chapter Six integrity issues, recall, the two-thirds gender rule and referendum law. LSK will continue engaging IEBC so that members are not spectators in the 2027 electoral process but active professional actors in safeguarding legality, credibility, and public confidence in elections.
