Walt Whitman and Vaughan Williams - visionaries both. ‘Behold, the Sea!’ and there it is in great washes of choral and orchestral sound. Fabulous work from @LSChorus and @londonsymphony under an impassioned Antonio Pappano. Soprano @MasabaneCecilia was, in every sense, majestic.
Swept away by the @LSChorus and @londonsymphony’s passionate, vivid and overwhelming performance of Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony under Pappano, capped by sensational singing from @MasabaneCecilia and Will Liverman. I can’t imagine the solo parts being better sung today.
Very excited for our upcoming concerts of Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony. Book your tickets to see us this Sunday the 9th and Wednesday the 12th of Feb:

[NEW] To celebrate Sir Simon Rattle's birthday today, watch the conductor lead the @londonsymphony on Beethoven's "Christus am Ölberge", a dramatic oratorio composed in 1803 that brings great intensity and emotion to the story of Jesus's last moments! https://t.co/rQCKJVso5l
Throwback to our two concert performances of Puccini's opera La Rondine last week, where Sir Antonio Pappano took the London Symphony Orchestra, a stellar cast of soloists and us through this story of love thwarted by society's conventions.
