A lot of people know deep down that the Trump Admin is behaving shamefully with regard to Ukraine, but don't want to admit, even to themselves, that America is being dishonorable, so they fixate on matters of no consequence, like Zelensky's manners, to distract their consciences
The first question in American politics should be, “If the other side did this, what would you say?” If you can’t answer this question honestly, to yourself and to others, it’s a huge red flag.
Six weeks ago we dropped our son off at Gordon College for his freshman year. In the last two years it feels like he’s gone from being my son to my friend. Made for a very hard ‘goodbye.’ We’re thrilled that he’s doing so well and look forward to visiting him this weekend.
New story about the Haitians in Springfield, OH, where the cat hoax originated. CEO of McGregor Metal: “I wish I had 30 more. Our Haitians come to work every day. They don’t have a drug problem. They’ll stay at their machine. That’s a stark difference from what we’re used to.”
@glenscrivener@Ayaan In her own description of her conversion there was no mention of how compelled she was by Jesus. I’m curious to hear if her conversion was to Christ or to cultural Christianity.
I’m surprised at the rise of vulgar/crass language in our public discourse. Words that used to make us blush are regularly spoken by public figures. What’s more shocking is that the increase in this language seems much more pronounced on the right. Not offended, just surprised.
@Atticus59914029 Take the command to love our neighbor seriously. Don’t put conditions on it. Just love them regardless of the signs in their yard, flags on their poles, or stickers on their bumper.
@GoodmanHoops@ColgateAthletic@Matt_Langel@KeeganRecords Voters got it right. Braeden Smith is the best player on the best team. 6’ guard averaged 12,5,5 and almost 2. I love Keegan but Smith was the right call for POY imo.
Good morning. It is the 12th of January.
Everything is a fake little crisis these days.
People have forgotten what actually needs to be urgent, and what can wait. Historically speaking, the abundance we experience and the lack of true emergencies is extremely new. We have not had the time to acclimate to it in generational terms. We have no blood memory of such good times.
This leaves people anxious. Without an outlet for our emergent energy, our crisis-oriented brains summon dark shadows in daylight, creating problems that do not exist. We ring the alarm for minor annoyances. We walk onto the lake before it is frozen just to scream out that we nearly drowned.
You see this with your colleagues, your neighbors, and maybe even your family. Breathe and slow everything around you.
As those around you become increasingly frantic and anxious, speak slower, allow for beats in conversation, do not reply with breathless rapidity.
Be unmoved.
There are few true problems in life that require true urgency. Be the force that shows others this, the calm in the storm.
@prchovanec Same. Fly your ideological flag next to the American flag. Don’t burn it, let it touch the ground, or alter it. But, I also still take my hat off inside buildings so…
I'm 17 days into Parenthood and every second feels like I'm in a buy game against Colgate and down 10 at the under 16 timeout of the second half.
This is ONLY the first month.
