When a patient can't go home because care isn't in place, calling them a "bed blocker" isn't just wrong—it’s dehumanising. The NHS has a duty of care. Let’s treat people with dignity, not blame them for systemic failures.
I've been given a template and an example of how a review should be completed in my team. I copied and pasted to see the word count and it's just under 4000 words in total. I was asked to do 3 a week. That's more than I wrote for my undergraduate dissertation!!
This is the beginning of week 3 of this stupid virus. Was supposed to start work tomorrow but it's gonna be next week now. I'd have started if they didn't want me in the office for the first month. Could have finished the inevitable online training!!
I personally think that permanent work is over for a lot of public sector jobs eg nurses, doctors, OT and social workers. Its all about locum positions. Is this the plan to push forward privatisation and AI?
I ask service manager who can do my reference. The reply is myself or team manager if you want it done quickly. Agency sends form and they both send it back saying they can't do it. Why not direct me to HR straight away then?
The only 2 social workers from the LA have handed their resignations in and leave on the same day. Service manager says the service will not change - good luck with that!
Imagine thinking that as a manager you could change a job description via an email without consulting HR. Furthermore, the words added to job description are purposely vague and misleading to get employees to conduct treatment in a medical setting - unethical springs to mind!
Never thought I'd be drawn into a debate with a senior social worker regarding what my duties/role is under a local authority contract. Trying to explain that treatment isn't my remit should have been simple. Unfortunately I now have to go through the grievance procedure
Been off because of stress at work. Manager calls me to do some welfare check - really didn't seem genuine! But when manager hints at it all being pre-planned put me in mindset I had at the end of last week, which was to resign
Almost forgot what burn out feels like and how much it cripples you. Just as bad as my osteoarthritis flare up. Instead of physical pain it's pure stress crippling me
I asked what IAPT actually did if they did not do risk and stabilisation in a teams meeting. I thought my computer had frozen and I could of heard a pin drop! Never a good sign.
