Dearest Mother— We have begun contact training. I’ve seen many new faces as we returned. A new recruit, PVT. Thomas is a mountain of a man. People have begun to notice my growth from your special meat pies. I hope my new strength gives us many victories.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother— As I prepare for my 2nd tour in this long war, disease has ran rampant. Col. Judge has prepared the troops the best way he can to protect ourselves as we prepare for basic training.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother— Changes have came to the battalion. Col. Judge is being welcomed with open arms. It is a somber time, Gen. Manning is hanging up his holster & riding off to the farm down south. I’ve been grateful to learn under his command & hope I can make him proud.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother— Our final home stand in this long war was a wet one. The dirty birds of Philadelphia has given us another defeat. We’ve heard word of Col. Shurmur’s firing from the battalion, and await further changes in preparation for the coming conflicts.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother— My return to the battle field is finally here. We’re in enemy territory surrounded by a band of Redskins. We will continue to Chase victories in every battle in my Young time of leading this Battalion.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother— I watched Capt. Manning fall in Philadelphia, but he fought bravely, like the stories I heard of him as I grew up. I’m learning great things as I heal up. Seeing the battle from a different view I feel will help me in future conflicts.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — The battlefield was snowy like the fields I played on as a child. My sidearm was not true & I have left the battle in the infirmary. I will not lead us into the next battle & Capt. Manning will lead the men into battle as he’s done many years before me.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — Too long it’s been since we’ve enjoyed a victory meat pie, I hope to enjoy one soon. We march home with word of cheese makers from the frozen tundra are Enroute to our lands. They’re led by a man who I hear dosent write back to his family often.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — After a week off & Time spent reflecting on the past battles, we arrive in a land where wild bears roam freely. A mythical place of ghost stories of monsters of the midway. I hope the return of SGT. Shepard brings us back to victory.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — We have endured yet another loss in the battle field, this time it came from the militia in our own backyard. Command has given us a week off. I will come home to reflect on past battles & look ahead to the coming conflict.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — As the loses mount up I’ve become yet more determined to prove my doubters wrong. The curse of the black cat is an omen that will stick with me for some time. We must rally together quickly because our next enemy is in our own backyard.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — We Marched back home with another loss. We have traded fur pelts & meatpies in exchange for reinforcements from our sister battalion. Our spies say the band of Cowboys are riding north, I stood by as Capt. Manning fell in Dallas, i shall make him proud.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — It’s almost been two fortnights since we enjoyed our victory meat pies. We arrive in this strange land called Detroit where packs of starving Lions roam the land. I hope to make you & everyone back home proud.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — My first letter to you washed away in the storm along with our scouts warning of the army of red men who call themselves Cardinals. We heard stories of their short leader, although he was small, the defeat of our squadron weighs largely.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — The troops fought hard & gallantly but we will not be enjoying victory meat pies on our march back west. My sidearm was not as accurate as it needed to be & although the pain of this defeat stings, I will learn & improve for the impending battles.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — We arrive in New England bruised, battered & short handed but ready to fight. The odds are against us, but that has never stopped us before. My entire career my skills to lead a battalion has been doubted, tonight is no different. We will fight bravely
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — I have endured my first loss in this long war. The way the band Vikings cooked our defenses remained me of how you cook the meat pies back home. We march to New England where goats roam the land freely & a place where many have gone to be defeated.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — My sidearm was not perfect but it was good enough. As we enjoy our victory meat pies we hear word from our spies by lake Minnetonka that a band of Vikings are preparing an attack. It’s a golden opportunity as get reinforcements for the coming battle.
— Daniel
Dearest Mother — As we celebrated our victory on the march back north, we arrived home we prepare our defenses for the coming attack from the natives of D.C. Our scouts report a rift between their tribe, but from past reports it seems nothing out of the ordinary.
