for just a moment before she settled. gaze returning to him , exhaling deeply.
his attempts to scare her always worked. unfortunate for the caged bird.
“ that and being cruel , it seems. ”
her heartbeat quickened then. though he only went on to prove her right ——
needless to say she wasn’t certain. she was holding her breath as it hung in the air , so close to her visage. yet she made no movement.
blinking rapidly ++
⠀ his hand left the sword hilt before he knew why.
stupid thing to do. it hung in the air between them, close enough to brush the soft curve of her cheek.
he stopped it there. >
part of his words stuck out to her more than the others.
“ you would kill anyone 𝘩͟𝑒 asks you to ? ”
her gaze turned back to him. she knew the answer , her had to. alas he be branded as a traitor. but she wanted to hear it , oddly.
she soaked up his words. even followed his glance , looking at the boys playing with swords. she couldn’t help but feel the want to sob all over again.
she prayed silently in her head that those boys grew up to be real knights. ++
⠀ he looked at her for a long while.
little bird had a talent for asking questions no one else was stupid enough to ask.
“ you’re fond of the wrong words. ”
his voice was flat. >
like in her stories. not the ones that hurt little girls , not the ones that held no honour. her attention lingered there for a while as she listened. attempting to understand.
“ i see. ”
she spoke softly, quietly. —— ++
lit up at the confession.
for once he had said something that wasn’t intended to scare nor belittle the wolf.
“ i don’t .. understand. ”
the little bird frowned.
“ what does it make easier ? hurting others ? and.. why ? ”
it was moments like these , she understood others insults towards her. she truly wasn’t learning. perhaps it was a subconscious choice , too stubborn to let the world change her.
the admission had her demeanour perked up , eyes almost ++
⠀ sandor almost laughed.
almost. gods, she was strange.
little bird only stood there and looked at him as though he were a puzzle she meant to solve.
that was the irritating part.
she should have known better by now. >
brows furrowed. her lips formed a pout in reaction to his words. even her nose scrunched slightly , as though he had offended the little dove.
“ i never said you were good. just that you aren’t evil. ”
an exhale , thinking for ++
⠀ the girl had a way of making a man feel like he’d taken a blow to the head without ever lifting a hand.
evil.
a pretty word. a child’s word.
the sort of thing singers used when they needed a villain for their songs. >
learn ? not now , it seemed.
“ i don’t think that is true. evil men don’t need to be hungry to bite. that is why they are evil. ”
she paused. the hound was mean. he was rude , ruthless. and yet —
“ i don’t think you are evil. ”
strange. a very strange feeling paired with strange words.
blue hues watched him turn. sansa had been told for a while now that she wasn’t smart. she was dumb and always ended up saying the wrong things.
when will the little bird ++
⠀ little bird had a strange way of saying things.
as if words could change what a man was.
he looked at her.
— seven bloody hells.
she said it like a fact. like she knew him better than he knew himself. >
sansa would continue to play the part of the pretty trapped bird for she had hope. she would escape. would he try and stop her.. should that day come ? thoughts had her sidetracked.
“ you won’t bite me. ”
his words somehow had ways of eating at her mind. the mind that was ruined , her dreams had been crushed. he was everything her fairytales disregarded …. yet he somehow remained someone she felt a touch of safety with. —— ++
⠀ the hound looked at her.
a friend — the girl still had songs in her pretty head.
almost laughed, but there was no humor in it. she is a fool.
— aye. he believed her. >
she found herself thinking of that in moments with the hound.
“ i’ve heard worse recently .. ”
he wasn’t as scary as other men .. other men in power. in fact , she suspected him to be gentler.
head tilted , finally glancing back upon him. his words were intended to frighten her , she thought. it had to be an act. not all dogs bite.
“ you are correct. sometimes a dog is a friend. ”
wolves were closely related to dogs. ++
⠀ little bird looked at him as if she could see past the words.
that was the trouble with her.
most men heard the hound and knew enough to keep their mouths shut.
they saw the burned flesh, the sword, and they found wisdom in silence>
