Earlier today, His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatsé III, CFR, the Olú of Warri, accompanied by Her Majesty Olori Atuwatsé, departed their residence as they set out for the day’s celebrations marking the 5th Coronation Anniversary.

The King and Queen prepare to journey by water to Ode-Itsekiri, the historic capital of the Warri Kingdom, for the grand Boat Regatta and anniversary celebrations.

A Sacred Moment Behind the Palace Walls

As part of the 5th Coronation Anniversary ceremonies, and as mandated by the culture and traditions of the Warri Kingdom, His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatsé III, CFR, the Olú of Warri, entered the sacred Ogbowúrù Shrine, a highly restricted area within the Palace in Ode-itsekiri the historic capital of the Warri Kingdom.

At Ogbowúrù hall, His Majesty paid homage to his ancestors and offered prayers for protection, prosperity, peace, and long life for himself and his people.

As the sacred rites commenced, all cameras were ordered off. Some aspects of our ancient traditions are not meant for public viewing or documentation, but are preserved through reverence, secrecy, and respect for the customs of the Kingdom.

A deeply significant moment of ancestral reverence, royal duty, and cultural continuity.

His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatsé III CFR, The Olú Of Warri, has issued a Royal Proclamation outlining the structure, duties, and appointment process of Ambassage Chiefs within the Kingdom of Warri (Ojoy’uko N’Iwere).

The proclamation reaffirms the Kingdom’s dedication to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and the strengthening of inter-ethnic relationships, while also clearly setting out standards for procedure, hierarchy, responsibility, and accountability in service to the Kingdom.

It's been 78 days since the Urhobo terrorists launched their assault on the Odon community on September 27, 2025.

No arrests have been made against the terrorists. No investigation. No prosecution.

Yet, since September 27, 2025, over 12 Itsekiri people have been declared wanted dead or alive, and 4 Itsekiri have been kidnapped and taken to Ekpan Police Station by the Urhobo-controlled Delta Police Command—for simply protecting their parents, wives, and children from armed Urhobo terrorists. This despite zero video or photo evidence against the Itsekiri.

Meanwhile, the Urhobo terrorists caught on video openly brandishing guns are allowed to walk free.

The Delta State government has effectively declared war on the Itsekiri people for refusing to let the Urhobo kill them.

His Majesty Ògíam���̀ Atuwatsé III CFR, The Olú of Warri, honoured the 10th Coronation Anniversary of His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, The Ooni of Ife, with his esteemed presence.

The ceremony also witnessed the conferment of the title Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oòduà on Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria — a recognition of her influence, grace, and contributions to cultural preservation and unity across Yoruba land.

More than a royal celebration, it was a symbolic moment deeply rooted in history. By succession of thrones, the Throne of the Olú of Warri — through the Throne of the Oba of Benin — is regarded as a grandson to the Throne of Ife. By lineage, the Oba of Benin is historically recognized as the younger brother to the Olú of Warri within that shared royal ancestry.

Today, that heritage lives on — not merely in titles, but in mutual respect, shared history, and the enduring ties of culture.

A gathering where tradition recognized its own reflection, and history quietly reaffirmed its connections.
