Well, I do belive that suffering is useful, one way or another. But I think it's naive to correlate universality with usefulness.
No, I'm not a pacifist. I, too, want to get in a fight. A big one. A fight for humanity for instance. Something that's more than just an opinion. It's not that I don't have opinion, I have plenty, I even have enough to fill a cemetery.
