We had a great time in the #EGU24 last April! The austrian LUCSES team presented recent results on #shrub encroachment processes in the Alps. It was good fun to debate with other scientists and learn from so many disciplines. Thanks @EuroGeosciences for such an amazing week!

Wishing a nice farewell to @Lenchen9teufel as she moves on to new adventures. Thank you for your dedication and extraordinary work. And thank you for this incredible present crafted from leaves, roots, and flowers from our own shrubs! Best luck in all your future endeavors!
Fungi served as plant root systems for ~50 million years until plants could evolve their own.

Congrats to @Lenchen9teufel on successfully defending her Master's thesis! She is doing a wonderful job assessing the effects of shrub encroachment on mycorrhizal symbiosis within the LUCSES project
Last week the #LUCSES team had its 2nd annual meeting. Thank you all for two exciting and productive days of sharing preliminary results and enjoying time together!
We had an amazing week learning and talking about mountains at the #IMC2022! Sandra Lavorel and Lucía Laorden-Camacho presented some preliminary data on the effects of shrub encroachment on soil nutrients and microbial communities. Thanks @imountainconf!
The French team tried to employ the local cows to help us with soil sampling for LUCSES. They are very curious at first, but unfortunately, their attention span is quite short 😂
Root morning! 🤪 after some intense weeks, the roots from our encroached grasslands are washed and ready for DNA analysis and observation of mycorrhizal colonization! Big thanks to @Lenchen9teufel, Ramona, and Julian for their work!
