@QuixoticQuant @pm_mcd I’m not buying in on the emissions analysis.
But yes, regulated utility economics in the context for energy transition = very interesting stuff.
@DrCameronMurray I’m seeing more discount signs but fewer large discounts.
I suspect this mostly tells us that supermarket price strategy people have read the room.
@abiylfoyp It didn’t succeed, but I once almost bought an apartment where half of it wasn’t on the deed. This point was deeply buried in a blurry drawing in the documentation. When I found it, they said it was really a good thing, because a lower footprint reduced body corporate fees
A thread for those who think we're going to be importing lots of hydrogen over vast distances.
1. Shipping liquid hydrogen is not going to be a thing. To understand why, you need to understand that hydrogen is basically liquid, -253C escapey, explodey expanded polystyrene.
@annaspargoryan Every now and then I get a hankering for a long macchiato made with a double shot of coffee made from green coffee beans, served extra-milky in a long glass with a stem.
Jk
But seriously, I will hunt down Browns iced coffee when in WA.
@alison_reeve My #1 top predictive interview question for whether I will get on with a future boss, if I can work up the guts to ask, is “what does your wife do?”
(I am yet to face a situation where my boss was not a man with a female partner)
@alison_reeve It blows my mind how he could do this interview and not be self-consciously embarrassed about that. I’m also guessing he’a not managing his own diary, and it’s probably not a man doing it for him.
@NickAberle We have parental “year level reps” - they organise social events for parents to meet. In both our year levels, the main annual “dinner” is split by mums and dads. I am baffled that adults have chosen to do this.
I agree with actual informal stuff - be mates with who you like!
Parents, help me: I’ve recently been invited to several kids’ school events that are split into an “event for the mums” an “event for the dads”. Is this a normal thing? A Melbourne thing? The price to be paid for living SOR? Am I the only one who finds it weird?
@abiylfoyp 1. Inadequate mentoring (including bias in who gets mentored)
2. Selection processes that rely on signalling
3. Crowding into a narrow set of professions deemed worthy but not well aligned with aptitude/ interest
4. Being good at lots of things and never committing to anything
