I'm fascinated by the Google Gemini controversy - it raises so many questions about how AI "should" behave
I asked ChatGPT and Gemini each to create images of the "typical residents" of Fort Worth and Dallas
ChatGPT gave me stereotypical images of white men in each city (notable as the white population is a minority in both cities)
Gemini refused to make the images and told me there is no such thing as a "typical" resident of the city
I'll be discussing this with my students for sure!

Congratulations to UO students Nayantara Arora, Lucy Roberts, Colleen Uzoekwe for being selected as Rhodes Scholars nominee finalists. 📚👏

Rhodes Scholars are chosen not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements, but for their character, commitment to others and to the common good, and for their potential for leadership in whatever domains their careers may lead.
