Attended an excellent stammering training session by @stephburgess and @AiredaleStammer Thank you for organising such an informative session. I thought it will be useful to share some key points and messages.
It was really great. Thanks so much @AiredaleStammer! Particularly enjoyed hearing from the guest speakers including a stammerer doing amazing work in the field. #mySLTday#CPD#dysfluency
Just about to start session with a client in a care home when another therapist pops in and says “sorry he can’t have visitors right now we are expecting an SLT in to see him any minute now” -“yes, that’s me” I reply. The look of shock!#thisiswhatanSLTlookslike#diversityinSLT
#hungrylittleminds has suggestions of daily tasks to do with your child. Talk about what you are doing and why you are doing it. When hanging up the washing, you could say ‘The clothes are wet, let’s hang them up to dry.’ Give them simple tasks https://t.co/OutDgOK0y8
I am spending time this week thinking about what examples to give from my caseload to show interviewers that I am qualified for band 6. Can anyone offer any ideas? Thanks! #mysltday#speechandlanguage
E-health paediatric summit. Parent session- what is use of online therapy really like for parents of children with disabilities?
1. Parent said they started by thinking zoom sessions would be the same as face to face. They weren’t. They were stressful!
This interesting and very readable article - "children with DLD have a large deficit in emotion recognition ability" - early lang skills predict later emotion recognition - feels very significant. #evidencebased#mySLTday#emotionalregulation cc @socialthinking
