@JuunTV No one said its good for the consumers, but it is consistent with market trends. The sad truth is not enough people care, and companies (like Sony) can and will capitalize off that. If we want Sony to change, we have to change the market first.
@xMBGx Better consumer rights makes sense and everyone should fighting for it. But waiting until physical gets phased out is a little late considering most people dont buy physical discs.
@BeskInfinity@PlayStation They didnt F everyone bc most people do not buy phyiscal discs anymore. Its the way the market is moving. Sony (and everyone else soon) is just following suit.
@NotiPlay_ Its actually the consumer. A vast majority of consumers on any current gen gaming platform primarily buy digital downloads over physical discs when given the option.
@engadget Its not anti-consumer if most consumers already invest in it far more than the alternative. Physical discs are just naturally not part of the future.
@XBOXStudio Its highly unlikely. Digital download is even stronger on their platform. 90-95% of new game sales are digital. Physical discs is not a long term investment strategy based on consumer habits/trends.
@Shunkiroth Theyre making a decision consistent with market trends. There will be a little friction for a few months to a year but in the long run, digital downloads will still persist.
