When looking for a #nft I have to love the art. I also like a strong #NFTCommunity I am now a part of the pride! @LazyLionsNFT This is not a paid endorsement. #ROAR
@justifiableWTF@Sunshiny_Daze@kerryreid@Karnythia @lizzywol Then I suggested that creating a barrier between these relationships might have the unintended consequence of aiding the anti-choice movement.
@justifiableWTF@Sunshiny_Daze@kerryreid@Karnythia @lizzywol that’s not what I said. I asked ppl to consider the possibility that the world might be a better place, and reflect more of their ideals, if they engaged with well-intentioned but misguided people on such an important issue...
@JessPected@Karnythia @lizzywol No one is demanding anything. What ought to be the case and is the case are two different things. Disengaging & avoiding relationships w/anyone who moderately considers themselves pro-life is not a winning formula for changing hearts & minds (which leads to political wins) but GL
@JessPected@Karnythia @lizzywol You realize kids grow up extremely polarized & a good portion of young men’s views are a product of their environment? Mine was Southern Baptist. Again, I’m a better person now bc I was lucky to have a partner who didn’t write me off when I considered myself ‘pro-life.’
@JessPected@Karnythia @lizzywol Engaging in good faith debates with possibly well-intentioned but misguided people (as I once was) ≠ begging. And if we separate ourselves from these discussions how many other meaningful discussions re: immigration, sex work, etc. are we also preventing?
@kerryreid@Karnythia @lizzywol The reality is ~50% of Americans are sympathetic to a movement that has had far too many recent political victories. Leaving anti-choice people to procreate strictly with other anti-choice people seems suboptimal.
@kerryreid@Karnythia @lizzywol I don’t think they ’must’ but I’m not sure creating a barrier for potential relationships like mine helps the pro-choice cause long term...
@Karnythia @lizzywol What if I only changed my mind on abortion bc I had a thoughtful, patient S/O who engaged w/ my arguments & defended hers. It’s not fair that the burden is often put on women in this scenario but surely the world is a better place w/these difficult conversations than without?
