🧵 This UK Budget completely fails to meet the moment.
We will replicate the £100 support for fuel bills, but the UK Government has failed to cut energy bills by £300 as promised.
Got lots of time for James but he needs to relax…
No one in the SNP has ever claimed this will solve all problems in our education system, many issues stem from a Westminster imposed system
It’s a small step towards helping address those problems, Let’s welcome that surely? 🏴
"Imagine you are the parent of a new primary 1 pupil, and that you have been desperately struggling to get by. You are having to choose between heating and eating, perhaps missing meals yourself so that your child doesn’t go hungry.
"You’d love to give them access to all the same experiences as those from the wealthier parts of the country take for granted, but you just can’t afford it.
"And then along comes the Scottish Government, expecting you to believe that handing over a school bag for which they have been seriously over-charged is somehow going to level the playing field.
"It’s not just a stupid claim – it’s also completely tone deaf and suggests that our government is led by people with little to no serious grasp of the problems they claim to be tackling on our behalf."
Why on earth are the SNP spending £30 per head on 'free' P1 school bags? || James McEnaney 👇

Imagine living in a country (Scotland) where the SNP Gvt:
Remove prescription charges
Remove toll booths
Remove tuition fees
Help families with:
Child payment
Baby box
School bag
Free bus travel
Best start Grant
Heating Allowance…etc
& still somehow we get this. 🙄

Today I was denied entry into the West Bank, alongside other parliamentary colleagues from across Europe as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
We were held for 8 hours, interrogated and ultimately prevented from crossing the border.
I came to stand alongside Palestinians being attacked for harvesting olives on their own land. Instead, we were turned away, with no reason given.
More than ever, Palestinians are being subject to terror and violence by the IDF and illegal settlers. Increased blockades, demolitions and unthinkable violence have become the norm for Palestinians in the West Bank.
It is more important now than ever that we bear witness and show our solidarity.
But we were prevented from doing so.
I will continue to do everything I can to apply pressure on the Netanyahu government, and those responsible for the persecution and genocide of the Palestinian people.
Scot Govt Minister for Europe, Stephen Gethins, who has been sanctioned by Russia for his activities against Putin, has doubled down on John Swinney’s comments

While Trump opened the door to Russian oil, we must support European energy security, invest revenues in renewables, reduce oil & gas reliance, & protect workers.
Judge Rosebank on the evidence & confront the real consequences of not producing resources we’ll continue consuming.
It's possible that in the span of one week, Bolsonaro loses in Brazil, Netanyahu loses in Israel, and Republicans lose the house and senate.
Here's hoping fascism loses everywhere.
Could the ‘SNP source’ come forward please? Because our party actually decided we’re against hyperscale data centres. It would be nice to know who is pushing this against the will of party members.
James Cook, on the BBC live from Rosebank, just said there’s about 25 years worth of oil beneath is feet.
I thought the oil was done? Or was that a convenient 2014 lie to put Scotland down?
For what it’s worth, the SNP has been calling for a sovereign wealth fund for decades.
And the SNP press office did more or less this calculation and arrived at the same £1 trillion figure in June.

The Jackdaw announcement is great news. Burnham’s government deserves real credit for doing the right thing for our country.
For too long, this and other vital decisions on gas supplies and storage have been put off: risking our energy security at a volatile time.
daniel sloss being in the room and saying nothing despite being so so vocal on that very point, and ofc alfie brown was there too
men love saying they’re liberal until it comes to treating women with dignity and respect and then you find they aren’t actually liberal at all
