Very good thread, two things I have thought for a very long time:
1. The discussion is hard bc JB is still very good, just insanely overrated
2. There's a difference between skill and impact. JB has all the skill but his tendencies are what bring his impact down.
I think this is going a little bit too far but I do believe Jaylen Brown is probably the most overrated player in the league by the average NBA fan.
His entire game is damn near built to have the average person overrate him. He makes the tough mid range shots, he’s athletic, has clutch moments and he used to play very good defense. But at the same time his real weaknesses knock down his game so much.
Reminder to all that the no.8 pick in the draft is rarely a starter in the NBA and that's kind of where I'm at with Flemings.
He may be a good no.8 pick, but i don't expect him to change the franchise
Risacher was a better prospect!
@KLChouinard I do think not having a second center was a bigger deal but I thought matchup versatility was the biggest issue. There were many games where Okongwu felt helpless in some respects and the metrics bear it out
@iamrahstradamus They improved wins from 36->40 with clear positive momentum and if you want to use real advanced metrics dont use BPM.
Listen I prefer Gillespie 4/48 to Trae 4/212 but this is an insane argument. Gillespie was immensely underpaid.
@iamrahstradamus I watched every game that season for Trae.
He was dragging the Hawks to wins and that season was largely praised as an overperforming season for the Hawks.
They traded DJM away, Jalen Johnson played 36 games, some players that started arent in the league next year
@GVOCollective@avidbasketball0@pointmadebball I'm not saying they sent an offer lol
Don't assume what I'm saying. The Wizards prob thought the Heat were going to send a competitive offer (max or not) and Wizards wanted to make sure Trae would sign *before* it's a possibility for him to leave
@avidbasketball0@pointmadebball There were rumblings that the Heat would have made a competitive offer. Maybe not this much but it would've been something
It's not at all. The Wizards have no cap concerns until the end of this contract, and they had to pay someone. Might as well lock in Trae as your PG moving forward and assure him you have full confidence in him to lead the team.
I love the deal for both sides & happy for Trae.
Have 0 idea why people think the general framework of 8th pick for Trey Murphy would be a bad trade for Atlanta
This fanbase dickrode Cam Reddish for years after he left the Hawks and we dont think 8 for Trey Murphy is good???
@AmidonJacob@KLChouinard I did. And okongwu being able to beat clingan in a matchup does not make him better im sorry.
I am also speaking about next year, Clingan is 22. I'd take him for sure. He led the league in orebs, averaging 3.6 more than Okongwu while playing fewer minutes and with a similar 3par
@AmidonJacob@KLChouinard No. No one thinks this.
In no order:
Wemby
Jokic
Chet
Duren
Embiid
Ihart
KAT
Bam
Queta
Jarrett Allen
Mobley
Clingan
Edey
Gobert
AD
Sengun
Mitchell Robinson
Can prob add more tbh. Clingan/Edey are less proven but certainly look better
