And on one occasion this led to a mad result...
The night before a big FA Cup tie with Wolves, Warnock's wife Sharon dreamed that a right back would score the winning goal.
The next morning, Neil walked into the dressing room and told them about the dream.
"Danny Butterfield", he said, pointing to the club's second choice right-back. "You're playing up front".
The players were baffled: Butterfield had scored 1 goal in 6 years.
But Sharon must have been on to something...
Butterfield scored a 6 minute hat-trick Palace won 3-1.
