With the new T.V show coming out I was catching up on some Harry Potter lore, wondering why exactly they couldn't say his name again.

"In Harry Potter, characters avoid saying Voldemort's name primarily due to intense fear, superstition, and in the final book, a magical tracking curse known as a "Taboo". While typically used to avoid drawing the Dark Lord's attention, in Deathly Hallows, saying the name breaks protections and summons Death Eaters."

Very interesting stuff!

The ironic thing about this was that while everyone focused on Voldemort; people we're ignoring just how smart Dumbledore was.

"Dumbledore insisted on saying Voldemort’s name to reduce the fear surrounding him, believing that “fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself”. By encouraging others to use the name "Voldemort" rather than "You-Know-Who," he aimed to strip the dark wizard of his power to intimidate, treating him as a mortal rather than an all-powerful entity."

Harry Potter was just such a deep and rich universe.
Can't wait for Hogwarts Legacy 2!
