More patient and ER bad news. Ontario will not cover uninsured patients anymore. A large amount of care will be declined by outpatient doctors who justifiably don’t work for free. It will be pushed to ERs where we attend to everyone. A cruel decision that will impact many.
Our EDs are experiencing higher than normal volumes and we anticipate wait times of 20+ hours for non-emergent concerns.
Please come prepared to wait. Pack a snack, water, etc.
In a medical emergency, dial 911 or go to an Emergency Department.

Ontario hospitals are reporting a turnover rate of 14.95% - unsustainable.
In any other industry with a critical labour shortage, staff would be paid more to stay. Bill 124 takes care of that.
There is no path to fixing the staffing crisis which does not involve raising wages.
@WarwickshireCCC@Edgbaston my grandfather Dan Christensen is turning 90years in June, he played the 2nd XI in 1950-52. trying to get a classic logo cap to Canada! How can I make it happen?
I think some folks fail to appreciate how fully fucked up it is that Ford waited until the provincial election to make a childcare deal with the federal government.
Doug Ford’s Conservatives keep saying they’re the YES government. Well we’ve learned they said YES to underspending:
- Health care by $1.3 billion
- Education by $212 million
- Post-secondary by $391 million
- Children & social services by 1.1 billion #onpoli#VoteFordOut2022
2018, Ford promised Buck-a-Beer and failed
2022, it is a re-election promise of cancelling license plate renewals
Both are lies of 'putting money in taxpayer pockets' when people are being charged more for everything else they need to survive.
This is how #privatization happens.
“I’m done with COVID” is code for “I’m pretty sure I’ll be ok if I get infected, and what happens to other people is of no concern to me.”
Other than being selfish and privileged, it‘s shortsighted - more cases = strains on healthcare & other systems, risk of new variants, etc.
Shout 👏 this 👏 from 👏 the 👏 rooftops!
Emergency medicine’s scope creep into a safety net for every failing of healthcare and social services has gone too far. We are broken.
Kudos to the authors for this brave and bold article.
