I am part of the mass layoffs at the Washington Post.
I am sad and angry. We all want to keep doing the work.
But for now I want to document a reality of being in journalism today.
A staggering statement from former Washington Post editor Marty Baron: "This ranks among the darkest days in the history of one of the world's greatest news organizations."
Anyone can love Heated Rivalry. Anyone can share their adoration for it. There are so many “untruths” in the Outsports story that I’m not even going to waste my time arguing. And to the journalist, I hope you spend your future time sharing TRUE stories that matter.
If you’re a fan of Heated Rivalry, then you probably know the drama between the Outsports publication and the Empty Netters podcast.
All I’ll say, is I don’t support the horrible journalism conducted by Outsports. I’m a journalist and I’m disappointed.
The article was clickbait and embarrassing and the person who leaked those texts is a fucking loser. For a pub that claims to focus on shining light on queer stories in sports, this is a weak attempt to take down a “straight male podcast” because it got attention for loving HR.
It’s one of the few times I see true emotion, true love, true intimacy in hockey and I cherish it.
Congrats to SWE - a gold medal game well deserved. 🥇
A couple thoughts as I watch SWE take the gold medal at the WJC ‘26…this event is one of the most emotionally charged events in hockey. There are two sides: on one, after laying it all out, the winning team swarms the ice and jumps all over each other, helmets flying…
Both sides have tears. But whether they’re SWE or CZE in this gold medal game, they’re there for their teammates, intimately connected in a way that they may never be again. A reminder that they’re just kids. And that too, is quite beautiful.
Thank you to Jacob Tierney for creating the literal masterpiece that is Heated Rivalry idc if you don’t like hockey or love you will love this I swear on my own life!!!!!!!
"Exciting, good goalie, excited to welcome him to the culture of the Golden Knights." -Mark Stone on Carter Hart
Stone says the players were all asked about it and they were all happy to welcome him into the family.
This is your reminder that Patrice Bergeron & the Bruins leadership stood up to Bruins management about Mitchell Miller. It has been done before.
All this tells us is every Vegas player is either too spineless to say something or completely devoid of character.
