Thank you @CoachTReese and @McNeeseFB for providing this opportunity for me to experience a game at Mcneese. Loved the environment and hospitality of the staff at Mcneese. Look forward to being back.
How do you help your specialists develop, get better and make necessary corrections to their craft?
The answer is definitely NOT “go over there and kick until you figure it out”
This is actually the fastest way to make them worse; planting the seed for a 100% mental game and unnecessary uphill battle which creates more bad habits than corrections, more loss of confidence than owning the moment, more inconsistency and uncertainty due to the constant changes being made that don’t apply to your fundamental principles, etc..
Study that part of the game and that particular position just like you do with the rest that make up a team! Specialists WANT to be coached! Ask any of them! But not many are willing to do the hard work and learn what is needed to do said teaching/coaching.
It’s something I think that could/would help every coach and every team! You just have to WANT TO learn it!
It’s ok to not know information. That doesn’t make you any less of a coach or leader! But adding this knowledge can only make you and your guys that much better! 🏁📊📈📝
