@LegoKingo It's such an odd way to view literature. Why should it be congruous with the empirical? It isn't science. I think this person is too angry with someone they know who called it deep.
I worked really hard on developing a vegan ube ice cream recipe for work and look how pretty she is! Working with a group of investors to trademark the concept of ube ice cream so food vendors in the Philippines will have to pay royalties to use it 💖😊🙌🏻
I would want to hear someone say, “I’m developing a gluten free Kimchi” and let’s see how the Koreans would react to it, so Caroline here can give her opinions. Btw Caroline, the people whom you call mad about everything are Filipinos defending their beloved Ube Sorbetes. Stfu
@chrstelejoy -I loved it. Not saying you should start with Moby-Dick, but that a novel you are excited about trumps one that is easier to read. In the interest of still addressing the question, here are some classic(-adjacent) books I think are good to get back into reading.
@chrstelejoy A while back I forced myself to get back into reading. I literally googled "readable classics" and bought a bunch. I enjoyed those, but what really got me into the habit of reading daily was picking up Moby-Dick, which is decidedly less readable than the others I chose, but-
ace people who have absolutely zero interest in sex are so good at nsfw fanfic because they can view sex at a purely artistic and technical level, rather than putting in their own nuances and biases. this is my theory. a porn theory
@DarkSeeker9713@Invinium Those "mannerisms and etiquette" are dumb, prescribed behaviors 99% of players dont care about, but pvpers in their bubbles piss themselves over not being observed. Open your eyes man nobody gives a fuck about souls pvp.
@xaviersonline_ There's a weird semantic drift with certain adjectives (inherent, fundamental, ontologically, etc.) among online fandom types where they are used in much the same way as "very" or "especially". Sub-literate tik tokers copying the punchy phrases they see on tiktok.
@fortnitebussy1 Days long campaign of equivocation to hide the fact that this is all because they piss themselves with anger when the "wrong" character wins a contest, and they are incensed everyone else doesn't. "Any given Sunday" is a mantra powerscalers need to internalize.
@its_hipolita YouTube video essays on ATLA have ruined discussions about art. We only do cinema sins critiques now. This show doesn't have good world building. This book has no character development. Show X has strength in area Y; all shows without strength in area Y are therefore bad.
@TheManOfTomorr@brysonznasty Okay man but i dont think the author at any point considered that possibility, nor was he only prevented from doing so by thinking, "Aha! But in terms of power scaling, that wouldn't make sense!" so in what way did it impact the fucking story?
it really does seem like 90% of discussions these days are a cogent criticism being met with ‘but what if my personal definition of this term is so broad as to be completely meaningless’
