Exploring resilience, flourishing & meaning through words and psychology. 🌿
The great American philosopher and psychologist, William James, died on this day in 1910.
“The world we see that seems so insane is the result of a belief system that is not working. To perceive the world differently, we must be willing to change our belief system, let the past slip away, expand our sense of now, and dissolve the fear in our minds.”

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self -Ernest Hemingway
That’s how you earn your personal growth. By being more mature and emotionally resilient, you moderate and regulate your rage and anger. By filtering trash information, you enhance your understanding. By resisting social approval, you realise your true worth. By leaving the futile worldly things you connect more with the ground.
“What the public criticises in you, cultivate. It is you.” -Jean Cocteau, French Poet, Playwright and Philosopher (1889-1963)
What people don’t like in you, becomes your weirdness. It’s your distinctiveness that separates you from the ordinary. It becomes your unfair advantage. You do things in minutes for which people struggle. If you play on this different strength, you simply win, go past the ordinary and move forward with ease.
Many years ago, I was privileged to have a fireside chat with Gulzar Sahab. Learnt a lot in the process. Today, I happened to see that picture. Trying to re-live those beautiful moments. 🙏🏼
