عندما تستمع فى الأمم المتحدة اليوم الى خطاب ترامب رئيس أقوى دولة في العالم لايمكنك إلا ان تشعر بالحزن والخوف على ماوصل إليه حال عالمنا !

لقد تطلب الأمر ما يقرب من نصف قرن وسلسلة من الحروب الكارثية في الشرق الأوسط حتى تدرك دول الخليج أن أمنها يجب أن يرتكز في المقام الأول على منظومة أمنية مشتركة مع دول المنطقة - قائمة على الحوار وبناء الثقة والتعاون - وليس على الاعتماد على قوى أجنبية تسعى دائماً لتحقيق مصالحها الذاتية...
والأهم من ذلك، إدراكها أن إيران هي - وستظل - جارتها وجزءاً لا غنى عنه في أي ترتيبات أمنية إقليمية مستدامة.

وإنني آمل - كما دأبتُ على الدعوة منذ عقود - أن تدرك بقية الدول العربية أيضاً، وإن كان ذلك للأسف عبر تجارب مريرة، أن إرساء نظام أمني إقليمي موثوق يضم جميع دول المنطقة - بما فيها تركيا - هو السبيل الأمثل لتحقيق السلام والاستقرار في الشرق الأوسط (شريطة، بطبيعة الحال، إنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأراضي الفلسطينية وإقامة منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية في الشرق الأوسط).

It took almost half a century and a series of catastrophic wars in the Middle East for the Gulf states to realize that their security should primarily be based on a security architecture together with countries in the region - through dialogue, trust building and cooperation- and not to rely on foreign powers which invariably work in their own self interest…
and more importantly that Iran is -and will remain- their neighbor and a necessary component of any sustainable regional security arrangement.

I Hope - as I have been calling for decades- that the rest of the Arab countries also recognize - unfortunately through bitter experience- that a credible regional security regime among all countries of the region, including Turkey, is the best way for peace and stability in the Middle East (subject of course to the end of Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the establishment of a Middle East nuclear weapons free zone.

Humanity is facing three man made existential threats: nuclear holocaust; climate collapse
and rogue AI. All of which can only be “managed” through close international cooperation regardless of ideology coupled with stringent regulations and oversight…

Today the complete opposite is the case. The more the danger escalates the less regulation or cooperation…

We are “blessed” to have a bunch of politicians who are leading us into Armageddon that will spare no one!!
