10 accused have been arrested in a coordinated joint operation with Manipur Police & CRPF in various cases of ethnic violence in the north-eastern state, involving attacks on security forces, looting of arms & ammunition, and bank robberies.
The silence is profound over what's happening in Manipur. Unlike 2023, the vocabulary broke down this time.
"How can Christians kill Christians?" — But there have always been layers here that the mainland's framework can't hold.
And this is the pattern: when a situation defies easy categorisation, it disappears. ("how can we fit it all in just 1 minute for the reels, nobody understands Manipur anyway").
A 57 year old civilian truck driver, Nitish Kumar from West Bengal, was killed in firing by Kuki militants near Patlejang village between 11:00 am and 11:20 am today. The Border Security Force later shifted his body to RIMS for postmortem.
On 29.05.2026, a combined security force comprising Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF and RAF while escorting a convoy of stranded FCI trucks and LPG/IOCL tankers from Yaingangpokpi towards Ukhrul came under heavy attack at Roudei (TM Kasom) village from Patleijang hill area by armed Kuki militants who had taken tactical positions along the route. During the attack, an FCI Truck Driver, Nitish Kumar (57) of Hooghly district, West Bengal, sustained critical gunshot injuries and succumbed on the spot. A police personnel of Litan-PS also sustained bullet injury.
Security forces have launched search operations and area domination at the area to nab the perpetrators.
For a few moments every year, parts of Manipur stop looking real.
The skies fill with millions of silky cotton-like seeds drifting through the air so softly, it feels like the world has slowed down. Just nature reminding us how beautiful letting go can look.
Feels straight out of that ‘Master Oogway Ascends’ scene from Kung Fu Panda!
Maybe that’s why this view feels so emotional.
The trees aren’t holding on to anything.
They’re simply releasing what was never meant to stay.
And somehow, that looks exactly like peace. 🤍

Her name is Irom Chanu Sharmila.
She was born on March 14 1972 in Kongpal village, Manipur. She was the youngest of nine children.
On November 2 2000 ten civilians were shot dead while waiting at a bus stop in Malom, Manipur. The victims included a 62 year old woman and an 18 year old National Bravery Award winner.
The Assam Rifles was accused of the killings.
Three days later Irom Sharmila sat near the site with a placard. She announced she would fast until the Armed Forces Special Powers Act was repealed.
AFSPA gives security forces the power to shoot and kill on suspicion without prosecution.
The government arrested her. The charge was attempt to commit suicide.
From November 21 2000 she was force fed through a nasogastric tube every day.
A hospital room at JNIMS Imphal was converted into her prison cell.
She was released and re arrested every year because the law only permitted detention for one year at a time.
She refused to brush her teeth. She refused to comb her hair.
She vowed she would not enter her own home or meet her mother until AFSPA was repealed.
She continued for 5837 days.
On August 9 2016 she ended her fast. She said the government was unmoved.
She contested the 2017 Manipur elections.
She received 90 votes.
Whether AFSPA should remain or be repealed is for the government and security agencies to decide.
But one thing is undeniable. The ten people killed at the bus stop in Malom still have not received justice.

In a bizarre and disturbing development, Mizo MP @VanlalvenaK says he took "permission" from chairman of Kuki Zo Militant group ZRA, a former Myanmar MP, now operating in Churachandpur, Manipur to travel in the district.
Should an Indian Legislator seek permission from a Militant, a former Myanmar MP instead of the local state authorities @manipur_police@YKhemchandSingh@LokBhavManipur
Is Manipur under the occupation of Militants? @HMOIndia@PMOIndia you pay monthly stipend to these Militants? Have they been authorised to run the state, instead of the your own Government @BJP4India@BJP4Manipur bypassing the Indian constitution
March 26: Kuki militants target an Army post in Bishnupur.
April 7: A projectile from the hills (dominated by Kuki-Zo groups) lands in Bishnupur’s Tronglaobi, kills two sleeping children beside their mother. Father is a BSF jawan. Protests erupt.
April 18: Alleged SoO cadres ambush a vehicle on NH-202. Retired Army soldier (Naga Regiment) killed.
Three incidents. Same arc of escalation.
A pattern of organised militant provocation. Those behind these attacks must be identified and neutralised through precise, intelligence-led ops and soon. Militants are hell bent on targeting both civilians and security forces so that Manipur burns. Can’t be tolerated.

🚨Reality of SF's Cruel & Brutal treatment on Meitei Civilians in Manipur.

How can Meitei Community expect Protection & Safety from these Aggressors?
On 25 March 2026, at approximately 11:40 PM, suspected armed Kuki militants opened fire in the general area of Phouljang/Gothol, directing their fire towards an Indian Army post in Phougakchao Awang Leikai.
The Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (58th Battalion), deployed in the area, responded swiftly by returning fire towards the source, resulting in an exchange that lasted approximately 30 minutes.
From the early hours of 26 March 2026, a combined operation was launched by the Indian Army, CRPF, Manipur Police and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), in the general area where the firing took place and the adjoining hill areas.
The situation continues to be closely monitored, and Security Forces will continue operations in the surrounding hill areas.
Civilians are requested to refrain from spreading rumours and to verify information before sharing.
A final-year law student, Rishi Kumar from Tamil Nadu National Law University, refuses to delete his blog criticising the Supreme Court… despite pressure from his own university.
Why?
Because the administration allegedly received calls from advocates, judges, and others claiming the post harms the institution’s “reputation.”
The blog titled “The Supreme Court of India Has No Spine” questioned the court’s decision to ban an NCERT textbook chapter on judicial corruption.
But here’s the real issue:
A law student is being told to silence himself… for expressing a legal opinion.
His response?
Clear and powerful:
“My opinions are mine… you do not own my voice or my conscience.”
He even said he’s ready to face disciplinary action rather than back down.
This isn’t just about one blog.
This is about academic freedom vs institutional pressure.
If law students… the future of the judiciary are discouraged from questioning the system,
then who exactly is allowed to question it?
Criticism of institutions ≠ disrespect.
Silencing criticism = weakening democracy.
Raas Leela - One of the major Indian Classical dance form. The Manipuri Raas leela dance style embodies dreamy wavelike movements where one movement dissolves into another like the waves of an ocean.
