Recently, a girl was bullied and raped by a boy in her class at high school. She sought help from her teachers, but they covered up the incident and even retaliated against her. Ultimately, she died by suicide.

A’s daughter entered high school and lived in the dormitory. One day she came home, and A noticed burn marks on her daughter’s shoulder. At first, the girl said, “I got injured playing volleyball.” But when A pressed further, she confessed everything.

She had been bullied by a boy, B. B said things like, “I want my mark on your body,” and, “It’s okay because we’re going to get married.” He forcibly burned her with a cigarette. B also repeatedly contacted her, pressuring her to have sex with him and demanding that she go to a motel.

She asked the school for help. As a result, the school suspended B for 10 days and required him to take 6 hours of special education.

However, the school did not separate B from her. When she expressed her fear of encountering B, a teacher simply told her, “Eat lunch later.” As a result, she was bullied by B and his friends every lunch break.

Furthermore, the teachers labeled her as a “defiant student” and suspended her participation in the student council.

Eventually, she died by suicide. At her funeral, A learned a shocking truth: her daughter had told the school about the rape by B, and she had since been tormented by relentless bullying.

B spread rumors at school that she was sexually promiscuous, and as a result, she was given insulting nicknames by the male students and suffered from sexual harassment and criticism.

One friend of the girl said, “She told him to stop, but B forcibly took off her pants. People ask, ‘Why didn’t she scream? Why didn’t she run away?’ But how could she escape when her clothes were being pulled off?”

A has filed a lawsuit against B for assault and sexual assault, and has also sued the school for neglect of duty. Although it will not be easy, I hope that a small measure of justice will be achieved for her.
