🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
I am so excited to share that SOLAR-1 has finally completed its provisional testing and has been cleared by NOAA NESDIS for release! SWPC will begin publishing the real-time solar wind data along with IMAP data TODAY!
There is still one more thing to workout for CCOR-2, but that will be coming soon!
I can't say enough what a freakin honor it has been to work with the NOAA wide SOLAR-1 teams the past few months to get everything ready to go for everyone. Seeing the test and validation work put in and how it compares to ACE and DSCOVR is truly incredible. 🥹
Stay tuned for more details!

However, there’s more to it than timing max and estimating when it’ll occur. We (@swmcintosh, @leamonrj and @rickyegeland) have NAILED the ENTIRE shape. That insight allows us to forecast ACCURATELY a whole host of solar proxies and solar driven quantities that affect the space environment around us!!!
If you could forecast a physical quantity with 0.74 'skill' (mean-squared standard error) over > 4 years how would you classify it? @leamonrj@rickyegeland@LynkerSpace@HaleSWx
[ps - the fun is not contained to just one quantity but pretty much all of those that define the space environment]
What do launch weather officers and mission control care about most on the space weather side for launch?
While there are many roles space weather can play in a launch, the biggest space weather concern, crewed or not, is the impact of energetic particles and possible degradation to communications with the rocket/spacecraft.

Today's forecast has launched! 🚀 @LynkerSpace
As of right now, with a little over 6 hours until the launch window opens, space weather is still a go for launch.🤞
Anyone that is interested in pursuing the aurora borealis northern lights should subscribe. People who post are always willing to answer your questions, and in my opinion a usually very good explanation. The site is very well moderated hence a very good site for information about the Sun no off topic garbage. There a multiple categories that peeks one's interest not matter what you are looking for. Give it a go you will not be dissapointed.
