Associate Professor in Computer Science, @AWARE_sapienza, CIS Sapienza. Working on Visual Analytics, Human-centered AI, Cybersecurity. Opinions are my own.
In this context, Europe, which has always distinguished itself as the “home of open source” (one example above all: the Linux operating system and its derivatives), could recover its space and act as a guide towards the new generation of open models.

I report an informative pill of mine (in Italian) as a member of the Commission on Artificial Intelligence for information on the current state of Generative Artificial Intelligence models.

It is therefore the hope of the writer that this trend will also spread to other players in the field of generative AI, allowing greater transparency and democratization in the use of this technology.
Yesterday, I received an Honorable Mention Award for Best Reviewer at the EuroVis conference! HappyEuroVis recognizes this effort as it can be a motivation for scientists to provide high-quality reviews. Thanks to Full Paper chairs and Best Reviewer Award committee! @EuroVisConf
and now Luca Podo presents a work in collaboration with me and Mohammad Ishmal on proposing an Evaluation stack for Ai-generated visualizations! #EvaLLM#LLM4VIS#EuroVA#EuroVis
Now on the EuroVA stage:
Toward a Structured Theoretical Framework for the Evaluation of Generative AI-based Visualizations
by
Luca Podo, Muhammad Ishmal, and Marco Angelini
#EuroVA
Alessandro Palma presenting now our joint work on Visual Support to Incident Process Management! Speak with him for more details during the whole EuroVis conference! @EuroVisConf#EuroVA
Happy to be included in the 500 Italians list for AI. As much as lists matter, and considering they reported my position wrong (I am an Associate Professor), it still gives pleasure to see research efforts and work in the Italian AI Commission acknowledged https://t.co/H3VWjyTiBW
Interesting point of view from @acmpolicy on Trusted AI and the role of researchers, engineers, and regulators. Research on Human-centered AI and Intelligence Amplification for human users is more and more important to provide viable solutions.
Don't trust AI? You're not alone, says ACM's latest TechBrief: "Trusted AI." Such trust is vital, but engineers and proposed regs may be on the wrong track to building and gauging it. What to do? Read the Brief, of course! https://t.co/PzAgAQAIaJ
Call For Papers for EuroVA 2024 is now online!
It is the 15th edition of our workshop and it is co-located with EuroVis 2024, the Eurographics Conference on Visualization @EuroVisConf in Odense, Denmark

Sonetimes “Logging” is not what we usually mean, even if maybe equally difficult! :-) Picture from the very interesting Capstone @ieeevis 2023 ! #ieeevis2023#geovis#visualization
Ready to meet new and old friends at @ieeevis in #Melbourne! Starting from tomorrow (I need to recover from jetlag first) feel free to get in contact with me to discuss Visual Analytics and Visualization topics! #ieeevis2023#VISdownunder
Super happy for Patrizia to present our systematization of cybersecurity controls for healthcare sector at IEEE ISI Conference 2023! @FrameworkNazCyb
preprint: https://t.co/vqSOlCRVYI
github (materials/controls useful for automatic analysis and GenAI) https://t.co/xzIIZtb1en
Excited to present our work "SoK: Cybersecurity Regulations, Standards and Guidelines for the Healthcare Sector" at 2023 IEEE Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI 2023) conference in Charlotte
@FILWD Sure, this is absolutely part of the advisor's duties. What I meant is that this relation is not unidirectional and that the ideas/attitude/novel perspectives of the student help in "enriching" the advisor, too. In this virtuous collaborative cycle, both of them grow.
