šļøToni Kroos (Ex-Real Madrid) on Eric Garciaās red card
š£ļø: āIām not one to usually defend Barcelona, but you have to be honest, theyāve been hard done by there. For me, thatās never a red card, especially in a game of this magnitude. Decisions like that end up deciding everything and take away from what should be a top-level contest.
Barcelona actually started the game well, sharp and on the front foot, but the sending-off and a penalty not given for a reckless challenge on Fermin Lopez completely shifts the momentum. Itās very difficult to recover or build any rhythm when something like that goes against you so early.
And with VAR in place, thereās really no excuse. These are the moments itās supposed to get right. Fair play to Barcelona though, even with ten men they kept fighting, but when youāre dealing with decisions like that, itās always going to be an uphill battle. They definitely deserved more from the game.ā
According to Law 12.3A it's clear that even if the keeper didn't intend to, if there's a collision of boots to any part of head when the ball is in play that's a penalty.
