@msredmond The best advice i ever got was to find a place you like and become a regular. Going at the same time helps. You feel more at home when you walk into a bar after long day and they call you by your first name and have your drink waiting for you. (Works at not bars too)
@shehackspurple#MentoringMonday Still looking for an appsec/web security mentor. Interested in practical resources, what are your top ten basic dos and donts, and some personal evaluation (how cool am I actually?). Thanks!
@bucfoo@shehackspurple Also, how good am I really? I struggle with imposter phenomenon and yet people tell me to talk myself and demand more money. What do you think I'm actually worth money wise and responsibility wise?
@bucfoo@shehackspurple If I had a mentor, what courses/tools do/did you use to learn Linux and Kali? I didnt study computer science in college and I dont want to bother with another degree, how can I learn some of the basics like what a CPU does and what Assembly is and othet such nonsense?
@gabsmashh 3. Be Ok with sitting in silence sometimes. Especially during lunch. Silence isnt always awkward. I appreciate quiet lunch partners or no lunch partners when ive had a particularly social day.
@gabsmashh I spent lots of time locked in a bathroom stall with noise cancelling headphones when my social battery ran out and I needed immediate recharge. Being understanding is half the battle. Finding quiet places to talk is helpful, move to the corner or the room instead of center.
