Gisagara District authorities have commended ActionAid Rwanda for its continued support to survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi through housing assistance, livestock distribution, and other community development initiatives.
Speaking at a commemoration event in Kibilizi honoring former AIDE ET ACTION staff and leaders who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, ActionAid Rwanda Country Director, Associate Professor Jeanne N. Kagwiza, said remembrance serves as an opportunity to honor the courage of those who helped stop the genocide and the resilience of survivors. She called on all Rwandans to remain ambassadors of peace and to safeguard the progress the country has achieved.
The Vice Mayor of Gisagara District in charge of Social Affairs, Denyse Dusabe, praised ActionAid Rwandaโs contribution to improving the well-being of vulnerable families, noting that the organizationโs support complements the districtโs efforts to provide decent housing and improve living conditions for residents in need.
Following the commemoration, 35 vulnerable survivor families received food and hygiene supplies, while 15 families were provided with roofing sheets and nails to help complete and improve their homes.
