It is not enough for Christians to just believe and recite the Creed; they must actively participate in the communion of God.
How?
By participating in the Eucharist.
'He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him. As I, who am sent by the living Father, myself draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will draw life from me.' (John 6:56-57)
'This is the bread come down from heaven; not like the bread our ancestors ate: they are dead, but anyone who eats this bread will live forever.' (John 6:58)
This living bread is not symbolic and should not be handled carelessly.
1 Corinthians 10:16 (ESV):
"The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?"
Most people assume the ultimate dividing line between Protestants and Catholics is the Pope. But if you look closely at scripture and the early Church, the real dividing line isn't a Who—it’s a What.
It’s the Eucharist. 🧵
In John 6, Jesus draws a hard line: “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”
Catholics call the Eucharist the "source and summit" of the Christian life because we take this literally. It is participation in Christ Himself.
John 6:53-56 (ESV):
"So Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.'"
The Word prepares the heart, but the Breaking of the Bread opens the eyes.
If the Last Supper is the establishment of the New Covenant, and John 6 is His explicit command, are we missing the fullness of communion by treating the bread and wine as a mere symbol?
Look at the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24). Jesus opened the Scriptures to the disciples, but their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.
When were their eyes finally opened? “He took the bread and blessed and broke it... And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.”
We talk a lot about the "New Covenant." But when did Jesus actually institute it? Not while preaching a sermon. He established it at the Last Supper:
“This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20).
The New Covenant is a Meal.
Protestants and Catholics share the Nicene Creed. We agree on the Trinity, the Incarnation, and the Resurrection. But the Creed was never meant to be the finish line. Assenting to the truth of Christ is different than being in full, physical communion with Him.
@Pontifex It is pointless to preach Christian values to pagan, instead of preaching human dignity, they must first experienced ‘Conversion’, without conversion-acknowledge Jesus is the Lord, you are merely preaching to the air.
Many live in spiritual poverty, simply waiting for a messenger. If Christians hesitate to share the Gospel, we risk withering like the barren fig tree.
Conversion (cleansing) comes from encountering the living Christ, but to encounter Him, people must first hear the Good News. God will provide the words, be bold and proclaim !
For the people standing on the side, not knowing if following Jesus is the path you should take. Why not give it a try? Shout out to Jesus like the blind man did. What’s stopping you from seeking Jesus? All you need is faith that He will answer.
The first reading of Mass is interesting. During the time of the disciples of Jesus , they preached fervently and, they were persecuted yet they rejoice in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone .
Today, in contrast the Church preach assimilation, promote ‘communion’ with people who have no common belief, all in the name of ‘superficial’ peace.
Why the disciples proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ without restraint yet we are advised to restrain in order not to offend the world?
If we truly believe the Gospel is indeed good news, we would not hesitate to share with everyone even if the world find it offensive.
This is the example of taking the Bible verse out of context.
Matthew 5 if read thoroughly, is not a direct instruction but a deep reflection that require wisdom to fully understand the deep message hidden.
“Blessed are the peacemaker” , a leader like King David, who free the oppressed from enemy can be considered as peacemaker, as King David established peace within his kingdom for his son Solomon to continue reign in peace. Look at Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Nigeria, are we blind to these nation’s suffering? Are we suppose to ignore their cry for help? So, who is the real peacemaker? The one pretend no war=peace or the one who set the oppressed free ?
If we takes Bible verse out of context, then imagine I take the below out of context,
Matthew 5: 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
So , do we seriously think that’s Jesus instruction? It is ridiculous if we take the verse literally.
Another example,
Matthew 5: 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
So, when a burglar break into your house and ask you to hand over all your asset, are we suppose to hand everything over? An illegal migrant came to you and ask to borrow all your asset including your country sovereignty, are we suppose to just hand all over?
God is Wisdom, Wisdom would expect us to interpret Bible verse through lense of wisdom.
Peacemaker doesn’t means superficial peace. It includes free the oppressed, save the persecuted, heal the wounded, cure the sick. Most of all proclaimed the Kingdom of God and make disciples. (We cannot make disciple by assimilate into the evil , we make disciples by expose and abolish the evil from the source)
The Roman Curia appears increasingly detached from pastoral reality. Their eyes do not see and their ears fail to listen. It is a tragedy when the shepherd no longer smells like the sheep
🚨 WOW. Border Czar Tom Homan just gave the PERFECT response to Pope Leo
"I'm a lifelong Catholic. I wish they'd STAY OUT of immigration, they don't know what they're talking about."
"Because if they wore my shoes for 40 years, and talked to a 9-year-old girl that got r*ped multiple times, or stood in the back of a tractor trailer with 19 dead aliens at my feet, including a 5-year-old boy that baked to death, if they understood the atrocities that happened on the open border, I think their opinion would change!"
"And I welcome discussion with any of them, because they don't understand illegal immigration is not a victimless crime."
"Where President Trump had the most secure border in the lifetime of this nation, right now, lives are being saved. He's saving thousands of lives a year because he has a secure border!"
"Human traffickers are out of business, right? The cartels are going bankrupt because of that secure border. I wish they'd understand that."
"Because if they did, I think they'd have a different opinion."
Mic drop.
Holy Father probably forget that before the war start, many people already got murdered by corrupt government , evil regime, hostile neighbor etc. Are those period ‘peaceful’? That ‘fake peace’ is worse than the war itself. At least with war, there is a small chance for them to have new life .
The human body consist billions of cells, so the body of Christ also consist billion of us, Christ body is not a single cell like what the world want you to believe the so called me and Jesus that’s enough. It is not enough, the cells in the body have to work in harmony. Imagine every cells in the body refuse to cooperate with one another, that’s cancer cell.
