#justaGP in Beaudesert, health services advocate, @ScoutsQLD supporter, director @RDAQFoundation, past-president @RuralDocsQ. Opinions: very much my own.
THAT Hat! Is missing. A constant companion through my career as a correspondent, when I was arrested in Egypt and makes a cameo appearance above Richard Roxburgh’s head in #TheCorrespondent. Lost outside Frank restaurant in #Hobart, 6pm Monday April 14th. I’d love it back!!
There are not enough provider/practitioners to make a difference at the ballot box. Patients' massed voices are the only thing that gets attention and provokes change
@SimonCopland 100% this. I work in primary care - in particular abortion/contraception/sexual health & the fees charged for services by other providers are absurd & unethical. We need our health care providers to fight back & demand better from Medicare as well as rethinking their own systems
RDAQ president Dr Alex Dunn applauds announcement. Cooktown Hospital to get long awaited redevelopment We dialled up campaign for infrastructure & equity for 2020 election. Good results Biloela & Cooktown @RuralDocsQ will continue to be voice for Rural Qldrs healthcare.
Funny this same old drum being banged
Yet no one looks at us Livingston Medical
10 locations in rural and remote WA
37 000 sq km covered
90% of sites have a zero day wait
We cover MM6/7
We clearly have a proven solution but yet no one is listening and repeating the below over and over.
Bulk billing isn’t financially viable. If you’re going to target GPs then you should be targeting every other specialist in Australia.
States have the money but won’t spent it on proven solutions like ours.
27 billion to pharmacists
3 billion to general practice
Yet no one speak to us even though we are clearly experts in our field and successful at what we do.
@RogerCookMLA
If you’re over 40yo, on average, you’ll need to see a GP 7x per year
In 2019–2020, there were 43 million Medicare claims for unreferred GP attendances for people aged 65 and over.
Let’s fund continuity and support Primary Care that supports us.
@RDA_Tas@Mark_Butler_MP
@sheena_byrom Increasing maternal age and BMI may be part of it. And lack of benefit in remaining pregnant past the “due date” perhaps

@seanluomdphd@Imi_cycles Sure hope you can. Don’t some of your medicines mess with that Q-T thingummybob? Some psychs in Oz are rumoured to want ECG, bloods and even physical exam before putting pen to prescription pad
It's a wrap on day 1 of our exciting new initiative to provide GP services to rural health practitioners. A huge thank you to everyone who made our vision a reality.
This ANZAC Day, we are reminded of the dedication and sacrifice made by those who keep us safe, and we thank those who have used their medical skills to save lives.
One such veteran is Dr Michael Clements, a rural doctor.
Read his story here: https://t.co/MFlTPMLoOe
@Ccc59846408 @QLDCountryGP Because a scan or fax is not a photograph, right? Be thankful @MetSthHealth is not asking for a fax of a signature…oh, wait…
@JillannFarmer Bureaucrazy doesn’t have to make sense.
It will be written in an Act or Regulations somewhere that it must be certified. And nowhere that it must make sense!
Congratulations to Dr Suzanne Harrison awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for her services to rural medicine.
Sue is practicing GP in rural Victoria and a Director on the Rural Doctors Foundation Board.
