The Florida Tort Reform bill headed to @GovRonDeSantis’s desk is a travesty for Floridians.

For every injury lawyer billboard you see there are DOZENS of TV commercials convincing you the insurance company is the “good guy” and your friend.

Huge verdicts occur when an insurance company repeatedly refuses to settle for a fair amounts. When it backfires and a big verdict occurs, the injury lawyer is then blamed as “greedy.”

Jury trials are constitutionally protected, and a jury verdict is the free expression of “we the people”! Frivolous lawsuits are rare — they’re easily filed yet quickly dismissed (and lost).

Every “pro business” argument promoting tort reform never mentions that insurance company pays the cost for defending a lawsuit and paying the verdict/settlement.

The cost of insurance won’t go down in FL due to the tort reform bill. The price of goods won’t go down. The cost of living won’t go down.

One thing will now happen: insurance companies will keep billions of dollars for themselves due to all of the new protections baked into this bill.

Big insurance just hit a HUGE jackpot in Florida with this bill!
