Finally watched the whole event.

I’m very disappointed by the Lander reaction to a few clipped segments that made President Irro look unserious or foolish.

Irro is no fool.

We can disagree with his performance, but even then, Somaliland advocates should focus on the strongest parts of the event and share those on X. Attacking him based on a misleading impression created by short clips is what’s foolish.

His speech was excellent, and in the places where people misquoted or mocked him, the full answers were actually solid.

Somaliland’s president isn’t there to perform as an analyst or strategist. He’s there to represent the country, and I thought he handled several questions smartly, especially on Houthis, Sudan and Taiwan.

He was laughing more towards the end, which made sense to me. It was a very long session.

I’m aware there are Somaliland opposition concerns on local issues. Fair enough.

But Somaliland–US partnership is not a local political issue.
