Georgia's been the #1 State for Business for 12 years running. That's not just a reputation — it's something that requires dedicated collaborative work, all the time.
Part of that work is behind the scenes, making sure Georgia has the legal infrastructure businesses can count on when things go wrong.
HB 1185, sponsored by Majority Leader Chuck Efstration and Senate Floor Leader Thomas "Bo" Hatchett and signed today by Governor Brian Kemp, does exactly that. The bill streamlines access to Georgia's Statewide Business Court — a specialized court with judges who actually understand how businesses work — strengthens Georgia's corporate code and adds commonsense protections against bad-faith litigation.
The bottom line: disputes resolved faster, at lower cost, with more expertise. That's good for companies already here, and a strong signal to those deciding where to grow next.
Thank you to @GovKemp, Majority Leader @ChuckEfstration, Floor Leader Hatchett and the Georgia General Assembly on this win for our business community. 🏛️
For four years in a row, we have lowered the tax burden on hardworking Georgians, and I was proud to do so yet again this morning!
Today, I signed legislation to cut the state income tax rate, deliver meaningful property tax relief, and promote opportunity for all Georgians.

Grateful for final passage of HB 1185, bringing corporate governance matters into the 21st century so that Georgia stays the No. 1 state for business at all levels, from the factory floor to the boardroom!
