“Submit to God, not Rome” is a false dichotomy.
It’s like saying, “Submit to God, not the Davidic kingdom.”
As though the kingdom God established on earth was somehow competing with Him instead of being the instrument of His rule.
In Scripture, rejecting the kingdom God established was rejecting God’s authority.
The promise wasn’t that we would be guided into merely the essentials.
We were promised that the Spirit of truth would guide us into ALL truth.
Anything less isn’t a fulfillment of that promise.
“We agree on the essential” is a deflection.
Day 7 of the first ever evangelical ecumenical council.
Your 10 favorite pastors are at the table.
Question of the day:
What makes someone eligible for baptism?
If infant baptism is not valid, what is the valid and official age or maturity level to qualify someone as a legitimate believer?
A 6 year old says they believe, do they truly get it?
What about 12?
Do all churches agree on the age of consent here?
What must they understand about the gospel in order to claim themselves a true believer?
Day 6 of the evangelical ecumenical council.
Every single pastor below has to leave in full agreement.
Erwin McManus
Mark Driscoll
Priscilla Shiner
Francis Chan
Bill Johnson
John MacArthur
Rich Wilkerson
Voddie Baucham
Cliffe Knechtle
Today’s question of the day:
Is Church optional?
Given a yes or no choice, how many of you think they would all be able to leave the table in total agreement here?
Day 5 of the evangelical ecumenical council.
Your 10 favorite pastors are at the table.
Today’s question is about authority.
But a slightly different approach.
In the evangelical community, individual discernments a big part of the Christian life.
The question of the day is…whose discernment takes precedence?
If a church member says,
“The Holy Spirit revealed this to me in Scripture,”
but it contradicts what their church teaches…
Who has final say? The individual or the Church?
If both claim the Spirit, who decides who
Is right?
Day 4 of the first evangelical ecumenical council.
Your top 10 favorite pastors are all at the round table…
Question of the day:
“What is the Church?”
Once again, at first they might agree on a general statement.
However when it comes to making an official teaching, the real questions come.
Visible or invisible?
Structured or just gathered?
Does it require authority or run by the people?
And once again they’re left in disagreement.
Ok, it’s day 3 of the first ever evangelical ecumenical council.
Your 10 favorite pastors are at the table.
Question of the day is,
Can a Christian lose thier salvation?
I’m sure you’d expect a clear, unified answer.
But what you’d actually hear is something closer to:
“No.”
“No, but…”
“Were they actually saved to begin with.”
Once again, it’s in the defining of terms that you will find we have assumed unity where there isn’t any.
