"Help me, I can't find my husband," the elderly woman said.
Having never left her side, I took my wife's arm and assured her that we would find him soon.

Reflection
As a child I dreamed of an old man with rusty scissors standing outside my bedroom window. I remember this now as I stand here, watching the child sleep inside, my ancient sheers scraping the glass.
Check out "The Author Inside You" podcast. On the latest episode, I talk about the writing process for "Ten Mile Creek."
Thank you, Matt and Leah, for having me on!

Today I read a very gracious review of "Ten Mile Creek", but it noted that I had spelled the town of Marianna incorrectly. I paused at this, knowing it is spelled with two "n"s, and immediately pulled it off the shelf to check.
My apologies to the town with a promise that this error will be corrected in later editions, as well as in the next book which also takes place by Ten Mile Creek.
Sure enough, it's spelled with one "n". This baffles me, as I am a stickler for little details, and although this is clearly a work of fiction, the town of Marianna is an actual location and deserves to be spelled correctly.
@lisascherer8888 My ancestors were German settlers (just outside of what is now Marianna) prior to the Revolution. Much of the family history discussed in the novel is my family history. In part, the book became a fun (if not disturbing) way to explain a genealogical mystery I have yet to solve.
@lisascherer8888 Oh, then you may find some of the scenery familiar. The book is clearly fiction, but much of it is based in fact. I'm interested to hear what you think. Enjoy!
