Scripps is warning DIRECTV could lose 52 stations in 38 DMAs if the two don’t reach a retrans deal soon. This follows a month-long blackout of Scripps stations on Comcast. The broadcaster has been expanding its live sports offerings, which ain’t cheap.
Sinclair, the largest ABC affiliate in the U.S., says it will preempt Kimmel tomorrow and replace it with news programming. Says discussions with ABC are ongoing as it evaluates the show’s potential return.

NCTA named Cory Gardner as its new CEO, replacing the retiring Michael Powell. Gardner, a Republican, served as a U.S. Senator from 2015 to 2021 and was a member of the House from 2011 to 2015. Punchbowl news first reported his appointment, which Cablefax confirmed.
