In honour of this day celebrating our female patron saint and women in Irish society, let's take a look at the legacy of some of the women of the MacDonagh family...
𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 - Born in Rathmines, Muriel married Thomas in 1913 and had a daughter, Barbara, and a son, Donagh. Muriel was active in the Women's Franchise League and Inghinidhe na hÉireann. She died in 1917, suffering a heart attack while swimming off Skerries.
#Onthisday in 1878, Irish patriot Thomas MacDonagh was born.
MacDonagh was a prominent member of @CnaG Gaelic League), describing it as his ‘baptism in nationalism’.
