DHS students Luke, Mckeon & Jake participated in the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Experiential Learning Job Shadow Program this week. Appreciate the Judicial Marshals & Lieutenants @ Derby Superior Court giving their time, insight & support to this learning opportunity.
Derby High School junior volleyball and basketball captain Shea Gray is featured in the SERVPRO Student Athlete Spotlight! Through three basketball seasons, Shea is already the school's all-time career scoring leader with 1,356 points. This past season she averaged 31.9 pts and 13.5 rbs/game, including a 50 point game in January. She maintains a 4.2154 GPA in the classroom while taking part in jazz and concert band, student council, and Unified Sports. It's the Shea Gray Way! Our Derby High School Cross Country runners show their mettle both on & off the course. Mac Gray (center) finishes 1st Thursday in the DHS Oratorical Contest sponsored by the American Legion, John H. Collins Post. Sofia Rudus (left) places 2nd, while Jeyden Allwood finishes 3rd.
DHS students Jeyden (3rd), Sofia (2nd) & McKeon (1st) participated in the American Legion Oratorical Contest held Thurs 1/15. Each shared a prepared oration & extemporaneous speech. Mac advances to district contest 2/7. Thks John H Collins Post 24, judges & school administration.
Derby High School’s Mock Trial students competed in the Connecticut HS Mock Trial Competition today at Superior Court in Bridgeport. They all did well! Thks Mr. Butterworth & Atty Sussman for teaching students about procedures & presentation of prosecution & defense arguments.
DHS Winter Concert 2025 - Great performances by all! Thks Mr. Ruel & Mr. Sigona for all you do to prepare students for performances throughout the year.
Congrats to Sasha and Mac! Sasha finished 6th last week at the NVL Championship - the highest finishing freshman in the league! And Mac placed 21st in that meet after passing an incredible 21 runners over the last 2.1 miles. He earned All-NVL Second Team honors.
