It’s been 3 years now.
I’m still healing.
Still learning to trust again.
But every day, I remind myself:
Being alone is far better than being lied to.
I’d rather cry in truth than smile in deception.
When I met Seun, I was 26, fresh out of NYSC, and still hustling to find my feet in Lagos.
He was 33, confident, soft-spoken, and always knew the right things to say.
The first day he said “I see you as my wife,” I laughed.
But deep down, a part of me wanted to believe him.
I walked away that day.
No drama. No second chances.
Pain? Yes.
Shame? Plenty.
But one thing I learnt is this —
Sometimes the person who claims to love you the most is the one who hurts you the deepest.
