Former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech, once among Kenya’s highest paid footballers, rejected a multimillion shilling offer to switch nationality and play for Qatar choosing loyalty to Kenya over fortune.

He later spent much of his wealth nearly KSh124 million, on cancer treatment for his mother, Mary Auma Oliech (Mama Oliech), and his younger brother Kevin, selling properties to cover the costs.

Mama Oliech died in July 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Kevin passed away in Germany in August 2020. Oliech’s story is not just about football. It is about sacrifice, family loyalty, and the painful price of love.
