“Give Me the Night” is the title track from George Benson’s 1980 album Give Me the Night. Written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones, the infectious jazz-funk and disco classic became one of Benson's biggest crossover hits, reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and #1 on the Hot Disco Singles chart. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

The track was the result of a musical "dream team" uniting Benson with producer Quincy Jones and songwriter Rod Temperton, who wrote it specifically for Benson's smooth vocal style. Building on the commercial success Benson had already achieved as a singer, Jones crafted a polished jazz-funk and pop-R&B sound that elevated him to an even broader international audience. The song's backing vocals were performed by R&B legend Patti Austin.
