A U.S. congressman wants to change how we legally “own” video games.
Rep. Ritchie Torres has announced plans to introduce the Power To The Players Act, a bill that would direct the FTC to create rules protecting consumers who buy video games.
The proposal would give players three basic rights:
>The right to own the games they purchase, rather than simply receiving a revocable license
>The right to keep playing games after online servers are shut down, through an offline mode
>The right to transfer or resell games they own
Torres argues that if a company can take a game away simply by shutting down its servers, then the consumer didn’t really buy the game in the first place.
Torres also hopes the legislation could eventually establish a precedent for ownership rights across other parts of the digital economy:
“If you pay for it, you own it.”
14 years ago today, Freddie Gibbs was gifted an AK-47 while touring in Moscow, Russia 🇷🇺 (2012)
"When I got to Russia, they straight gave me an AK-47, and I was like, what am I gonna do with this? I don't wanna get caught with this, go to no Russian jail.
And they was like no, no, no, you Gangsta Gibbs, you need to have this. So cuz I'm Gibbs, they just felt like I just needed an AK-47 with me at all times and I was like, okay, cool."
The forgotten story connecting The Fast and the Furious to 2 Fast 2 Furious
Many of you watched 2 Fast 2 Furious and probably found it a little confusing how Brian ended up in Miami without much explanation of what happened after he let Dom escape
There was actually an official short film released before 2 Fast 2 Furious called The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious, which bridges the story between the first two movies and shows Brian’s journey from Los Angeles to Miami
It’s a really neat piece of Fast & Furious history, and surprisingly, not many people know about it
