We have always been taking about #embodiment on the grounds of our own subjectivity as human beings. Is there a way to transcend this human-centric view? New media artist #Luyang‘s Revived Zombie Frogs Underwater Ballet may give you some ideas...

Setting your mind free from this heavy flesh--#disembodiment doesn't sound very bad. But anime #psychopass tells another story. What will you do in an algorithmic tyranny, when human worth is downgraded to data and codes?

@AL_Kato_Megumi Indeed! & I agree even irl socializing has always been role-playing (though appearances are harder to modify). Perhaps that's why we enjoy virtual social presence. When we all tacitly agree to be role-playing, that clarity of fictionality translates to some real genuineness.
Ever heard of #Vtuber? A Vtuber is a digital avatar generated via real-time motion capture technologies.
How we interpret the relations between the avatar, the creator behind the scene, and the audience from an embodied/disembodied perspective?

@AL_Kato_Megumi That's mean😬 I didn't take the commercial part into account in this video, but I'd say the companies are not only monetizing but detaching Kizuna AI from the person, which invades the integrity of the avatar-creator pair in an embodied creative process they deserved to have😢

@Schoconana The other side, as we mentioned in pt.1, is that the body becomes 'constructed' between the space of physicality and virtuality. Embodiment in the digital age may become associated with different meanings and inclusive of technological bodily extensions and virtual made-bodies.
@Schoconana Cool interpretation! But one can still label it as 'disembodiment,' since the body in 'embodiment' originally refers to the biological body, and any means of extracting the mind out of the body is 'disembodying' the mind. Indeed, that's one side of the argument..
@LeiyuanT Glad to hear from you! Your question was very thoughtful. Despite the rubber hand illusion seem to suggest a body-mind split, it in fact proves how our body reacts to sensory signals and tricks our mind into believing what we're seeing! And that's a case of embodied cognition.
Besides philosophers and media theorists, psychologists also have a lot to say about embodiment. What are the relations between our cognition, senses, and the body?
