You didn’t explicitly state “Maddy says” but that was the clear implication.

Bots are necessary when the developers tighten SBMM. When SBMM is strict and you happen to fall into either extreme ends of the skill spectrum, there are fewer real players in the same tier of SBMM that could get into your game and so as a result, these lobbies have more AI. That is also why higher SBMM lobbies often have 3-4 minute queue times and still have 65-80 or more AI. Ranked queue times can be longer because there are no AI in higher elo lobbies.

I didn’t fight a single real player while on the new account during the stream that you watched today. Fortnite lobbies are entirely AI until the account reaches level 10. I also “obliterate” real players on my main account daily. SBMM is not a flawless system and I’ve had players in my lobby on my main account that had only 50 lifetime wins and had yet to even grasp the basics of the core mechanics of the game. I have also queued into a ranked game as an Unreal ranked player and was paired up against bronze players. The matchmaking isn’t perfect in any game mode and the more information we have, the better we can articulate what needs to be fixed.

I created the new account with the intent of accurately representing my skill and seeing how long the game takes to place me in appropriate lobbies so that I can learn more about the matchmaking process and speak more confidently about it in the future, and possibly even use this information to help advocate for lower skill level players. I have always been very clear that I have my own gaming opinions and preferences and while I may be saddened or frustrated by some changes to the game, I ultimately just want what is best for the game and I feel like there may be a reasonable and obtainable compromise for some of the issues that we see in the game today that have been dividing the community.

You are completely misrepresenting my stance. To reiterate, I explicitly stated that I do NOT think that Epic should remove SBMM because I care about the longevity of the game and want as many people as possible to share the love that I have for the game, even if that means I have to learn to tolerate certain aspects of the modern day game that I do not love.

Secondly, my main issue with SBMM as of recently is that stricter SBMM has resulted in more AI in the lobbies. I think it’s totally reasonable to feel frustrated when 70% or more of each lobby is AI and I have times where I struggle to find a single real player. I do not think that the solution is removing AI or SBMM entirely, but I think there can be a reasonable compromise.

Lastly, there is a clear difference between making a new account with the intent of manipulating the matchmaking or ranks by boosting a lower rank player or misrepresenting one’s true skill to compete against lower skilled players for a longer time vs creating a new account and playing normally to see how quickly the game recognizes higher skill level gameplay and the SBMM adjusts as a result, which from what I’ve heard, is as few as 6 games.

I think you totally misunderstood my point. I explicitly stated that I don’t think Epic should cater to my game preferences and I recognize that I have bias and that the game likely wouldn’t do well in the long run if the developers created my perfect version of the game, which I totally don’t want because I love Fortnite and care about its longevity.

I created a new account out of genuine and innocent curiosity to see how quickly SBMM changes and how long it would take me to get into “streamer lobbies.” I have no intent nor desire to play on that account for any extended period of time but would just like to know more about how the matchmaking works and I think that’s a valid curiosity.

If you disagree with anything that I stated on stream, I would’ve loved to hear your perspective. Just because we have different gaming experiences and preferences doesn’t mean that one of us is correct and I think civil dialogue featuring contrasting opinions surrounding the topic is healthy. I’m sorry that you didn’t feel the same way about that conversation.

@kylethecrazyone Literally!!! I had to take out my earbuds when a game ended in WonkeeLand and the fireworks were going off. Some of the audio is SO loud and totally unbalanced

Please consider reducing the volume of some of the in game events / content this season or giving us the ability to do it in the audio settings. I have already lowered my volume by 30% this season and I’m fairly certain that the WonkeeLand fireworks and Match Override stations are still high enough decibels that prolonged exposure could cause hearing damage. PLEASE @EpicGames I love Fortnite and want to be able to play without causing irreversible damage to my hearing 🙏
