@douglasritz @jshrlph @guardian That's 1 ingredient: flour. Which, depending on the flour you use, can also vary. Gluten free recipes won't be using refined white flour in any case. A delicious flour for pancake is buckwheat flour which has proven health benefits in comp to white. Used in crepes. Carb happens!

@jshrlph @douglasritz @guardian You make pancakes with very little sugar in the recipe, or none. I make my kids delicious homemade ones which obviously they then smother with syrup etc ruining the effort but @douglasritz obviously doesn't cook pancakes from scratch much.

@DarkLetterman @Blue_Ouija @LilyLilyMaynard I don't think there's such a thing as a really nonbinary older child because most children like to be in one camp or another. They're very tribal. But babies... are just pooping machines who don't care about your gender norms.

@DarkLetterman @Blue_Ouija @LilyLilyMaynard No it's just true. The only person saying a baby is anything is an adult. The observation that the baby is male is a fact but the baby won't know it until they begin to develop bodily awareness and later, social awareness.

@DarkLetterman @Blue_Ouija @LilyLilyMaynard In my experience with young children this can happen in a cyclical way, so sometimes they embrace a gendered experience and other times wholeheartedly reject it (I hate pink etc) so it's best to let this happen fluidly until their ideal balance is reached. Not dive into labels.

After that, a combination of personality and their lived experience (in their physical body) will lead them to accept or reject gender.
